Gerald Merfeld began his art career studying painting and drawing with well known Chicago teacher Willian Mosby. After several years of studying fine art, he began a three year period working as apprentice with master illustrator, Dean Cornwell which shaped both his style and his thinking. Later, Merfeld began teaching art at his Brookwood Gallery and Atelier. Today he paints, Teaches and shows his work in Westcliffe, CO. 


Lorie Merfeld-Batson apprenticed under nationally known oil painter Gerald Merfeld, and then took classes at the American Academy of art in Chicago. Affiliations include Oil Painters of American and Signature Member of the Pastel Society of Colorado. Lorie paints in oils and pastels and occasionally paints in watercolor.


Elizabeth Merfeld grew up in Westcliffe, CO, which helped to develop her love of nature. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Colorado State and has a degree in photography from the Art Institute of Colorado.
